My fascination with English, particularly as a foreign language, began when I met my now-wife. Being from Japan, English was not her first language, and getting to know her allowed me a unique insight into the mind of a non-native speaker. I came to realise that there were a lot of quirks within the English language that had escaped my notice before, and I wanted to dig deeper.
